Good lighting layout depends on the room dimensions, ceiling height, beam pattern, fixture output, wall and cabinet locations, furniture, work surfaces, and the way the room is used.

Older homes may have plaster ceilings, limited framing access, shallow cavities, older switch wiring, mixed wiring methods, and rooms that were designed around a single central fixture.

We evaluate the available routes and explain whether canless fixtures, traditional housings, surface fixtures, new switching, or a different layout is the most practical option. Any likely ceiling access is discussed before work begins.
